Conflict of Interest & Independence Disclosure
Solar Smart Advisory Services is a division of Solar Smart LLC. Solar Smart LLC also develops, owns, and may sell renewable energy projects, including community solar, commercial solar, and battery energy storage projects.
Before accepting any advisory engagement, Solar Smart Advisory Services conducts a conflict review to determine whether Solar Smart LLC or any of its affiliates has an ownership or financial interest in the project under review. Where such an interest exists:
- Solar Smart Advisory Services will disclose that interest to the client in writing before beginning work.
- Solar Smart Advisory Services does not represent itself as an independent adviser on any project in which Solar Smart LLC or its affiliates hold a development, ownership, or financial interest. In such cases, our work is provided as sponsor-prepared project analysis, not as an independent third-party opinion, and we encourage clients — particularly lenders — to retain their own independent adviser or engineer.
- Where Solar Smart Advisory Services previously reviewed a project that Solar Smart LLC later seeks to acquire or develop, that prior engagement will be disclosed, and client consent will be obtained before any further involvement.
